Submit to Joule

Joule: Duquesne Energy & Environmental Law Journal (“Joule“) publishes articles annually in the summer and frequently publishes blogs throughout the academic year. Any and all publications are welcome year-round from practitioners, professors and students writing about environmental or energy law issues. See details below for submission procedures.

Practitioner & Professor Submissions

Joule prefers electronic submissions. Please format your submission in a Microsoft Word document and attach the file to an email. Please put in the subject line of the email “Submission to Joule” and send submissions to the Joule email account.

Submissions should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and in 12-point Times New Roman font. Please include a title page with the following information:

  • Name of the Author
  • The Author’s Academic or Professional Affiliation
  • Degrees Earned (optional)
  • Contact Information (E-mail Address, Postal Address, and Telephone Number)
  • Brief Abstract of the Article

All submissions should be properly footnoted. Each fact or proposition should include a citation that comports with the most recent edition of the Bluebook, A Uniform System of Citations. Submissions will not be returned.

Student Submissions

Joule accepts articles and blogs from students at the Duquesne University School of Law and from students who attend any ABA-accredited law school in the United States.

Students should submit their papers or blogs in the same manner as practitioners and professors. Please include a title page with the following information:

  • Name of Student Author
  • Law School Currently Attending
  • Author’s Law School Year at the Time of Submission
  • Other Degrees Earned (optional)
  • Contact Information (E-mail Address, Postal Address, and Telephone Number)
  • Brief Abstract of Article or Blog
