Duquesne Appellate Moot Court Board<\/p>\n<p>The Appellate Moot Court Board is proud to announce the 2014 National Appellate Advocacy Competition Regional results.\u00a0 Duquesne sent two teams to the Brooklyn Regional division of the competition, which took place at Brooklyn Law School in New York City from March 6-8.\u00a0\u00a0 The topic of this year\u2019s problem was Labor Law.<\/p>\n<p>The first team consisting of Angela Reed-Strathman, Martin McKown, and Emily Bittle finished as Regional Semi-Finalists.\u00a0 The second team consisting of Emilia Rinaldi, Aaron Weiss, and Kate Montgomery finished as Regional Semi-Finalists as well.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the second team received the Fourth Best Brief award.\u00a0 Team member Aaron Weiss also was named 5<sup>th<\/sup> Best Advocate out of all competition participants.<\/p>\n<p>Preparation for the NAAC competition began for these teams on November 4, 2013 when the official problem was released.\u00a0 After the brief submission deadline of January 6, 2014, the teams jumped right into oral argument practice, working tirelessly up until the date of regionals.\u00a0 Faculty advisor Professor Erin Karsman and student coach Lindsay Fouse were instrumental components to both teams\u2019 success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Left to right: Emilia Rinaldi, Aaron Weiss, and Kate Montgomery Left to Right: Angela Reed-Strathman, Martin McKown, and Emily Bittle by: Francesca Kosec, Secretary &#8211;
